Throughout our careers, we have seen plenty of unnecessary constraints on real estate investment. We are on a mission to make it more efficient and accessible to investors through the use of technology.

What’s wrong with the status quo in real estate investment?

No Emotional Connection

Real estate investment is perceived as an asset class that we often connect to emotionally. But ironically almost all the real estate investment products on the market alienate potential investors.

Non-Transparent

We believe the existing channels of information distribution significantly limit the level of transparency and flow of information to investors. Currently, only annual investment reports are provided to investors, serving more as a liability waiver than as vital information.

High Fees Cannibalize Returns

We believe an inefficient investment structure with unnecessary middle men is responsible for high investment fees, which in turn unnecessarily reduce returns to investors.

Time Consuming

As it stands today, the sourcing and execution of real estate investment is time-consuming, costly and not intuitively accessible to the majority of investors.

Discriminatory

Institutional-class real estate investment opportunities were, until now, predominantly available to a very limited number of investors; namely, ultra-high net worth individuals and institutional investors.

Lack of alignment of interest

Many real estate investment opportunities fail to do a proper job of aligning sponsor and investor interests. This creates a fee-driven environment harmful to the success of investments.

our story

BrickVest was founded by veteran real estate, finance and tech professionals with extensive experience of real estate investing.

Over the course of our careers, we have had first-hand experience of the inefficiencies in the real estate investment market. Large minimum investment amounts excluded all but the wealthiest individuals and institutions from directly accessing the most lucrative deals. The alternative was indirect real estate investment through Open/Closed-End Funds, which entailed high fees, low levels of transparency and mismanaged conflicts of interest between stakeholders.

These constraints represented such high barriers to investing that despite our own real estate expertise, we never felt personally compelled to invest in real estate. This was all the more frustrating given our ability to recognize outstanding real estate investment opportunities. A second look at these constraints revealed the lack of technological progress which we felt could help foster competition in global real estate markets

Real estate deals today are sourced, underwritten and closed in much the same way as they were twenty years ago – the asset class is due for a fundamental technological disruption. As a team of entrepreneurs with extensive real estate and tech experience, we are taking this opportunity to remove some of the inefficiencies we’ve faced firsthand.

Emmanuel LUMINEAU

CEO & Founder


Emmanuel Lumineau has 15 years of investment experience in technology, real estate and energy infrastructure. He has advised technology entrepreneurs and start-ups, with a focus on big data and Fintech. As a co-founder of 1OAK Financial Group, a London-based alternative investment manager that notably held a pre-IPO investment in Twitter Inc. Previously, Emmanuel was head of Investments at Mubadala in Abu Dhabi, the creators of Masdar City, a $25bn landmark “green” real-estate project. Emmanuel spent 10 years as an investment banker in London and New York at Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch and Citigroup. He was involved in the origination and execution of $40bn M&A, equity and debt assignments in Continental Europe, the US and the Middle East across the real estate, infrastructure and technology sectors.

Emmanuel holds an MSc in Management and Finance from HEC Grande Ecole, Paris and an MSc in Management from CEMS.

Thomas SCHNEIDER

Chief Investment Officer & Founder


Thomas has over 12 years of experience in real estate investment, finance and development. Most recently, he was the founder and CEO of Limmat Group, a real estate private equity company focusing on investing and developing real estate projects in Europe and the US. Thomas previously held positions at leading financial institutions such as Lehman Brothers, KPMG and Ernst & Young with a focus on real estate investment banking and corporate finance advisory.

Thomas holds a Master of Business Administration and a Doctor of Economics from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, an MSc in Real Estate Development from Columbia University and an MDes in Real Estate Investment from Harvard University.

Adalbert WYSOCKI

Founder


Adalbert (“Aldo”) has over 15 years of experience in a range of engineering, technical, and leadership roles from start-ups to larger corporations. Previously, Adalbert was CTO and Co-Founder of Credibles, a Fintech mobile solution providing in-store crowdfunding for SMEs. Prior to co-founding Credibles, Adalbert led the automation infrastructure initiatives at Ariba (an SAP company), concentrating on its SaaS delivery model, quality control, and speed. He focused on leveraging the use of Big Data analytics to improve software delivery processes. Additionally, he founded MobilyMed, a company that provided mobile data collection surrounding clinical trials.

He holds a Masters of Business degree from ‘Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers’ of Paris and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Rouen.

Jean Romain L’homme

Director & Board Member


Jean Romain L’homme is an angel investor, founder and board member with 17 years’ experience.

He is a co-founder of the venture capital fund Pjx10, and spent 15 years at Colony Capital, where he was an Executive Director & Co-Head of Colony Capital Europe. Jean has served on the boards of BUT, Hôpital de La Tour, Chateau Lascombes SA & Buffalo Grill. He was also an investor in Groom Box, SURPRIZEMI, Attractive World, Younited Credit, Shapr, Tikehau Capital Partners, LendingHome, Blade Group & LUTECA.

Jean was listed in Financial News ’40 under 40 Rising Stars Private Equity Europe’ and Institut Choiseul ‘100 French Economic leaders of the future’. Jean completed an MBA at HEC School of Management in Paris.

Remi Antonini

Head of Ratings


Remi Antonini brings 15 years of experience in real estate investment research and analysis to his role as Head of BrickVest Ratings. He is founder and managing partner of Menkaura, an independent real estate advisory firm. Previously, he headed the European real estate investment research teams at Goldman Sachs and then Exane BNP Paribas. He was named the best sell-side analyst for European real estate in the 2008 Extel survey and was the 2007 winner of the Trophée des SIIC for best analyst on French real estate.

He is a CFA Charterholder (Chartered Financial Analyst) and a Chartered Surveyor (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors). He is also a RICS Registered Valuer. Remi graduated from HEC Paris School of Management.

Agate Freimane

Investment


Agate is a Senior Investment Director at Brickvest. She is focused on sourcing, analysing and executing real estate investment opportunities. Agate has extensive experience in real estate. She started her career in mergers & acquisitions at Citigroup and later worked at Morgan Stanley focusing on real estate M&A, debt capital markets and private equity fund formation. Most recently, Agate was with Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners, working in both the London and New York offices on real estate investments in Europe and the United States.

Agate received her BSc (first class honors) from Warwick Business School at the University of Warwick.

David Mounou

Chief Marketing Officer


David is our Marketing Officer. He has more than 15 years of experience in digital marketing as an entrepreneur, manager, teacher, and consultant.

David holds an MSc in Management and Finance from HEC Grande Ecole, Paris and an MSc in Finance and Marketing from CEMS.

Salvatore Carso

Business Development


Salvatore is a Business Associate at Brickvest. He started his career at Pricewaterhouse Coopers in Italy. He was involved in different projects where his main responsibilities where project management, data analysis, modeling and reports to Top Management.

Salvatore holds an MSc in Business and Management from LUISS University, and his academic background includes six months at BI University of Oslo.

Yury Garris

Chief Technology Officer


Yury brings 14 years of software engineering experience to BrickVest. He has previously worked in senior engineering and managerial roles at startups in both Germany and Russia, including at Aeria Games and Delivery Hero.

Yury holds a degree in Computer Science from Ufa State Petroleum Technological University. His academic publications have been featured in over fifteen scientific conferences and magazines.

Jahim Bensoltane Arphi

Technology & Operations


Jahim has over five years’ experience in audit and financial operations at startups and corporates. Prior to joining BrickVest, he was a Group Financial Controller at the Rocket Internet company Foodpanda, reporting directly to the Global CFO. While at Foodpanda, he oversaw major cost efficiency and process streamlining projects in the South East Asian region. He began his career in audit in Paris, where he worked as a Senior Financial Auditor at Ernst & Young.

Jahim holds an MSc in Management and Finance from Toulouse Business School.

Fridtjof Kjelstrup

Technology & Operations


Fridtjof Kjelstrup has several years experience in financial advisory services and real estate. Prior to BrickVest, Fridtjof worked as a consultant at Ernst & Young developing and implementing risk management processes and optimizing audit processes for insurance companies. He also worked for a real estate developer supervising real estate projects and analysing real estate investments.

Fridtjof holds an MSc in Economics from the University of Cologne, Germany.

Richard B. Peiser, Ph.D

Richard B. Peiser, Ph.D

Richard Peiser is Director of Harvard University’s Real Estate Academic Initiative. He was previously on the faculty at the University of Southern California (1986-1998) as associate professor of urban planning and development, director of the Lusk Center for Real Estate Development, and Academic Director of the Master of Real Estate Development Program that he founded in 1986.

Richard Peiser received a BA from Yale University, an MBA from Harvard Business School, and a PhD from the University of Cambridge.

Professor Peiser has published over 100 articles in academic and professional journals. His recent book, Professional Real Estate Development: the ULI Guide to the Business (third edition) was selected as one of the best real estate books published in 2012 by the National Association of Real Estate Editors.

Professionally, he has developed affordable housing in Texas and California as well as land and industrial properties. He also has been active as a partner in an investment company in China. He currently serves on the board of Berkshire Income Realty, a publicly traded company based in Boston.

Renaud Tartanson

Renaud Tartanson

Renaud Tartanson started his career as an M&A banker at HSBC France. He spent the next 11 years at Goldman Sachs working in Investment Banking between London and Paris. As a Managing Director, he was notably in charge of the Real Estate Group for France and Southern Europe.

In 2009, Mr. Tartanson co-founded myfavoritecapital, a start-up aiming at bringing the crowdfunding experience to the private equity world. He then moved on to create Calcium Capital, an investment manager active in smallcap private equity.

Mr. Tartanson graduated from Ecole Polytechnique, Ensae and Sciences-Po.

John Vlachoyiannis

John Vlachoyiannis is the Director of Engineering at Splunk and has an illustrious record of successfully managing complex and high-value projects.

Mr. Vlachoyiannis co-founded BugSense with just $100K and made it a leader in mobile big data. He has seven patents for distributed realtime databases and has worked with leading companies and agencies in the public and private sectors, including Proctor & Gamble and NATO.

In his spare time, he can be found teaching Python to the United Nations, guest lecturing at the University of Athens, or running his non-profit ZeroFund which supports startups in Europe.

Annabel Schild is a London-based investor and entrepreneur with an extensive portfolio of successful projects. After graduating in Merchandise and Business Studies, she immediately launched a successful fashion brand which was followed in 1997 by diversifying into property development. She continues to build and expand her portfolio, with investments in a range of both residential and commercial properties across the UK, Europe and USA.

Ms. Schild’s talent for identifying future market leaders means that today, she can count a wide range of diverse enterprises as part of her portfolio. Her other fields of investment include, technology, aviation and a boutique stock broking firm.

Panayiotis Papadopoulos

Panayiotis Papadopoulos is an advocate for change and unconventional thinking. Currently, he is leading product management for Splunk Mobile Intelligence. BugSense, the company that he co-founded that was later acquired by Splunk, was one of the first leaders in Mobile APM and is the 5th most used solution for analytics for iOS according to VentureBeat Insights.

Mr. Papadopoulos is interested in new ventures and an active investor & advisor in startups internationally. His main investing themes are Mobile, IoT, Identity and FinTech.

Jocelyn Laudet

Jocelyn gathered a 15-year experience in Real Estate Fund Management and capital raising from institutional investors across Europe. In 2014 Evidence Capital has been awarded “Best European Firm for Real Estate Advisory” by the Magazine “Wealth & Finance International”. In the past, Jocelyn also served as Global Head of Investor Relations at “Amundi Real Estate”, was responsible at “Quilvest” for identifying and executing real estate investments across Europe/Asia, and raised capital from institutional investors at a Hedge Fund sponsored by “Prudential Financial”. He began his career with “Roland Berger” as a strategy consultant.

Jocelyn holds a Master of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from ENSAE/SUPAERO (Aeronautical and Space Engineering School – Toulouse, France).

Sudhir Bhojwani is Vice President of Incubation at Ariba (an SAP company), where he brings new disruptive products to market. Mr. Bhojwani has more than 14 years of deep experience in developing software at the intersection of mobile, information technology, and social networking sites. Before joining Ariba, he was at Wells Fargo Bank focusing on mobile banking. Mr. Bhojwani was also an architect on an SDP project that designed the next-generation AT&T wireless data network.
